A note from Julie:
As a grandmother looking back, I can’t emphasize enough how crucial it is to start cultivating problem solving skills from the very beginning. You’re never too young to start developing this vital ability. At Junior Problem Solvers, our philosophy is straightforward – the best time is now, no matter your child’s age.
When I raised my own children, I didn’t realize the profound impact early problem solving education could have. I wish I had actively nurtured and practiced those skills from their youngest years. Problem solving lays the foundation for independence, confidence, and so many future successes.
Recent research only reinforces this notion. According to a Harvard University study, children who engage in problem solving activities from 18-24 months show stronger cognitive abilities, better memory, and increased language development compared to non-problem-solvers. The benefits keep compounding as they grow.
A note from Alexus:
As a new mom, cultivating my children’s problem-solving abilities is one of my top priorities from day one. More than anything, I want to raise independent, wise kids who can solve problems on their own while also knowing when to draw upon my experience.
I hope to equip them with the tools and mindset to confidently work through challenges themselves. After all, teaching problem-solving is giving our children the keys to lifelong learning and success.
Research from Stanford backs up this approach. Their studies show that by age 4, children introduced to problem solving concepts display more motivation, higher engagement, and greater cognitive flexibility. They quite literally become “solution” kids!
The earlier we start, the more we nurture essential skills like perseverance, critical thinking, and resourcefulness. As partners behind Junior Problem Solvers, that’s the future we want for all children and parents.
Until next time, stay curious.
