Homemade Salt Dough Recipe:
- 2 cups flour
- 1 cup salt
- 1 cup water
Instructions:
- 1. Make your salt dough by mixing the flour and salt, then stirring in the water until a dough forms. Knead for 5 minutes until smooth and combined.
- 2. On a lightly floured surface, roll out the dough to 1/4 – 1/2 inch thickness. Transfer to a baking sheet or parchment paper.
- 3. Have your child press their handprint firmly into the dough, making sure to press the fingers down.
- 4. Use a drinking straw or pencil to poke a hole at the top for adding a ribbon hanger later.
- 5. Allow the handprint to air dry completely, about 2-3 days, flipping halfway through.
- 6. Once fully dried, have your child decorate the imprint using acrylic paints. Get creative with colors, designs or messages!
- 7. Optional: Seal the finished handprint with a clear acrylic sealer spray to protect the paint when dry.
- 8. Thread a ribbon, string or twine through the hole at the top to create a hanger.
